Finding affordable makeup that actually does what it promises is nothing short of a challenge. I’ve rounded up my top 10 favourite products to use from the drugstore that really do what they claim. Although I can shop Sephora, MAC and every other beauty counter until my wallets empty, I do love knowing that if I’m ever in a pinch I have some dependable products to fall back on! The best part is that all of these items are $20 or less.
This is my all time favourite mascara, it doesn’t matter how many I try I always come back to this one. It gives length, volume and doesn’t flake!
This is a great foundation if you’re looking for light-medium coverage and a little bit of a glow. It helps to mattify (lol is that a word?) but doesn’t dry out your skin. It’s long lasting and light weight, making it feel like you are virtually wearing nothing on your face.
This translucent setting powder from Quo is part of my every day rotation. It is light and fluffy and holds your makeup in place without adding any weight. It also gives you a nice sheen without having to use highlighter when you’re in a rush. Because, #momlife.
This brow pencil is great when you are in a rush. It gives a fairly natural look without taking much time or effort. I should mention that you do need to make sure to set this otherwise I find it’s prone to smudging.
This brow gel is great when you have a little extra time to apply. If you are anything like me, using gel and a brush will take a little time to learn how to apply but so worth it! It gives a natural look and stays in place all day long.
These mini concealers and highlighters are really easy to learn how to contour and highlight with. They’re great for brightening under eyes and I even use the lavender one as a shadow base when I want the colours to really pop.
Hopefully by this point, everyone and their dog has a beauty blender… BUT, I thought I would add it to my list in case someone hasn’t taken the plunge yet. They’re amazing, and it’s hard to remember how real the struggle was before these came along.
The key to a lasting face of makeup is a good foundation to put it on. This lotion is a super hydrating, low cost winner! I have tried so many different brands and they either made my skin too oily, so much that my makeup slid or couldn’t handle our long dry winters here!
Forever my favourite lip balm! It leaves your lips feeling a bit tingly and refreshed. I’m pretty sure I have one of these in every room of my house and every bag that I might leave the house with.
Like I mentioned above, you need to start with a good foundation in order to have your make up last all day. I love these wipes for convenience. They are only mildly scented and leave your face feeling super clean and ready for the day.
These are only a few of the items I like to use, but since becoming a mom I’m all about convenience. I like to carry a makeup pouch with me and these are low cost and easy to throw together an extra bag so you don’t have to worry about packing up your makeup staples every day. If you guys try any of these products, let me know what you think! Is there any others that I should add to my list?
